The Super Magnet

It was once proved that people who believed in magic could do magic, by three siblings. The first was John, who was 15 years old, the second was Lucy, a 12-year-old, and Anna, a 9-year-old. All three of them believed in magic, hence, they can do magic. they learnt magic by themselves. They also had a close friend named Mike, who was, like John, 15 years old. Mike did not believe in magic at first, but after seeing John, Lucy and Anna practising it, eventually he too was tempted to practice with them. They had a treehouse in which they practised. They did dangerous magic. One fine day, they decided to make something which can tell them the darkest secrets of the world, and they called it the Super Magnet. They even kept a password for it. They used so much magic that the treehouse collapsed after some days, and the Super Magnet was lost in the pile of the broken house. From that day onwards Mike started acting very strange. Days passed by, and Mike started becoming weirder and weirder day by day. He had stopped practising magic with the siblings. One day, Lucy got so curious that-

"I'm going and seeing what Mike is up to", she said impatiently.

 "Calm down Lucy, Mike's a good friend. He will certainly be up to something good", said John, though he too was rather curious" but let's just check on him," he said unable to control himself.

"But isn't that bad?", asked Anna.

"We have to do some bad things in life too Anna", said Lucy, still impatient," let's spy on him."

So, that day, when they were spying on Mike, they saw him going to some rocks on some nearby hills. They followed him to the rocks, keeping a good distance from him. They saw him mutter something to the rock and saw the rock moving aside. They sneaked inside before the rock slid back into its place. And there, right in front of their eyes, floating in mid-air, they saw the Secret Magnet. Anna saw Lucy turn red and John, green. They saw Mike looking into the Secret Magnet.

"The cheek!"Lucy shouted after coming home, throwing herself onto the bed.

"Maybe he wanted to give it to me as a birthday gift?" suggested John.

"Course not silly! Lucy screamed with rage."Can't you see? It explains everything! It explains why we never found the Super Magnet in the pile of our broken treehouse, and it also explains his weirdness. He was feeling guilty, she added, with a shudder.

"Yeah, but what if he was planning to give it back?" asked John.

"How can you think like that John! Didn't you see? He was using it", said Lucy matter-of-factly.

"yeah but-" he started, but Lucy interrupted him

"You want to support him just because he's your friend" she glared at him." he was good doesn't mean he is." They glared at each other.

Anna, who was watching this argument in silence spoke for the first time, "Can you please stop arguing and think of what we'll do?"

John glared at her too."So now you also think he's up to no good, do you?" he scowled at her.

"I-I didn't mean-," she started.

What do you mean you didn't mean like that?" asked Lucy, still angry.

"Look, let's spy on him for some more time until all of us get an idea of what he's up to", said Anna.

Lucy and John agreed with this.

So they began to spy on Mike. Every day he went to the rocks and saw the secrets in the Super Magnet. Lucy didn't talk to him. John still did not agree that Mike was up to no good. John's birthday came and went but Mike didn't show any sign of having it. If anything, Mike was quite dull at the party. Nothing exciting happened for many days until one day-

"Look there's a snake!" said Lucy, making Anna shriek.

But sure enough, a snake was slithering towards Mike. John quickly got up from their hiding place and rushed to his rescue. Mike was startled by the sudden appearance of John, and he used a repelling spell which threw John onto a rock and fell unconscious. Lucy and Anna ran out to help him up. Lucy was so red that she looked like close to a tomato. Lucy started throwing spells at Mike, who picked the snake up and was trying to retreat without being noticed. But Anna noticed him trying to go. She shot a spell at him, and a rope appeared out of nowhere and tied him up. They saw the snake slithering towards them. Lucy shot one spell at it and a second later it was lying dead at their feet. Mike screamed. Lucy went to the Secret Magnet, while Anna tried to regain consciousness in John. Lucy tried the old password many times, but it didn't budge. 

"It won't open", said Mike suddenly, with a cool voice, "I changed the password.

Lucy was not shocked at this. "I knew you would do that," she said.

"What did you change it into?" demanded Anna. And for the first time, they saw her turn red.

"Why would I tell you?? asked Mike, still in the infuriatingly cool tone.

"If you don't tell us, you will also be dead like that snake", Lucy pointed her toe at it.

Lucy raised her hand and was about to strike-

"NOOOO!!!"

Lucy and Anna turned and saw that John had regained consciousness, and was standing up.

"But-but Joh-"

"I know Lucy, and I'll give him the punishment", he said. He turned to Mike. "Have I shielded you all this while? If so, I agree that I was stupid. But now, after all my help, if you're planning to kill us, that's not at all fair."

"Who cares?" said Mike,"no one will find you here anyway. Fight me then."

"I-I can't", said John, suddenly weak again. Lucy and Anna rushed to help him.

"Why?" asked Mike, "scared, you coward?"

"No", said John harshly. "It's because of our friendship all these years."

"Well, now you know tha tI have no friendship for you", said Mike. "Don't you realise that I've betrayed yo-"

Something caught him and gagged his mouth and tied his hands and legs. It was sure that he was taken by surprise, for he played motionless for a moment or two. Then, he started to struggle, and how he struggled, they were scared that even the strongest binding curse couldn't keep still. They decided to tell him some things before they kill him.

"It was our fault that you became greedy for magic", said John, "goodbye Mike."

And then, They did it. They held hands and shot a killing curse. They used all their magic. They used even more magic than when they made the Super Magnet. But then, something went wrong. Instead of one body lying on the floor, there were four bodies. John, Lucy, and Anna were also dead with Mike. Our young heroes, Who were in their late teens when they died, are, and always will be remembered in our hearts. It was later said that Mike was sent to hell for betraying his friends and that the siblings were sent to heaven for their immense kindness to Mike even when he betrayed them.
